Good morning everyone! I LOVE to pass along other blogs that I think convey an interesting perspective. What do you think, do men have a preference for a certain type of hair? Men, please chime in! :)
I may be crazy to ask for honest opinions because the men may think, "Tina, you are clearly biased AND you have a big mouth so why would I wade out into this territory?" Please know that I truly do WELCOME all thoughtful commentary, especially when it diverges from my viewpoint. I write this blog to learn NOT to preach, please teach me!
On another note, I sent a letter to Pantene inquiring about the firm’s negative description of African-American hair (see earlier posthttp://tropie7189.blogspot.com/2011/09/pantene-insensitive-ad.html). We’ll see if and how a Pantene representative responds.
Hey Tina, I prefer done hair!!! It doesn't matter if it is straight, natural, short, medium, long, curly, wavy, thick, or whatever. The style isn't as important as having it done. I don't care if you have a pony tail, bob, locks, braids, a wig, weave, etc. as long as it is neat and maintained.
ReplyDeleteI certainly have a preference and make no qualms about it. Don't rock it if you didn't grow it! I've dated beautiful Black women with long and medium length hair that bounces, styled hair that barely moves, locs, pony tails, and, now my current (and, hopefully future and last) shaves her head weekly; trust and believe she is gorgeous! Graduating from an HBCU with a marketing degree, I always know when I am being marketed to. Finishing in 2010 with my Master of Divinity from an HB seminary, makes me look consciously and think critically at the messages mainstream media might be attempting to put out to the masses. The attempt by people of means against those with no or limited means has always been to divide and conquer thus splitting what could and most thought ought to be a united front. Thus, we end up having Black folks being split over an issue of hair which grows naturally from a healthy person's head. This split and fracturing is UNhealthy. No wonder from all the bought hair and chemicals women (and some men) have split ends!
